After a work injury, you might recover well enough to return to work but not at the same level of performance before your injury. If you return to work after your injury with certain physical restrictions and earn less than you did on the date of your injury, you are entitled to Temporary Partial Disability (TPD) benefits in Minnesota.

Do You Qualify for TPD Benefits?

Under Minnesota workers’ comp laws, you can file a claim for TPD benefits if:

  • You suffer an injury at work; and
  • You have not returned to work full-time; or
  • The doctor placed certain physical restrictions on you; or
  • You accepted a job at a lower pay rate

With certain exceptions, you can receive up to 225 weeks of TPD benefits. There is no guarantee of 225 weeks of benefits, as the benefits may end for a number of reasons. Your Minnesota workers’ comp lawyer can tell you what circumstances warrant a termination of TPD benefits.

TPD benefits are just one example of the benefits available to you under Minnesota law. You might qualify for Temporary Total Disability (TTD) benefits and Permanent Total Disability (PTD) benefits as well.
